Look at the stars

If you follow me on Insta, you may know that I'm currently living at my grandmothers in Greece for the summer. Although there's nothing quite like the Mediterranean sea and the magnitude of shades of blue it possesses, I've always been a magnet to the colour yellow. Perhaps it stems from my childhood obsession with Disney' Belle and Jane, or the power of the sun, either way, yellow never fails to brighten my mood!

I thought I'd share a few of my favourite iconic yellow ensembles and hopefully inspire you to be bold and rock yellow :-)

Kate Moss

Audrey Hepburn

Léa Seydoux

Natalie Portman

Solange Knowles

Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dress was yellow! :-)

Michelle Williams

Lily Collins

Hanneli Mustaparta

Natalie Wood

Rosamund Pike

Johnny Depp

Mick Jagger

Bianca Jagger

Whenever I'm feeling blue, I add a slick of lipstick and pop of yellow to my outfit - it works like a charm. My yellow converse have travelled the world with me, here they are in Warsaw with me and my best friend Caitanya!

I'll leave you with this poem called daffodils that I adore!

6 Tips For Catching Zzz's

Every now and again I get into the rut of being nocturnal. It's usually triggered by a looming deadline, element of my life that's irking me or a really good book. Here are some tips that always help me when I'm snoozy and struggling to drift off, they may sound basic, but trust me - the witching hour can leave you feeling topsy turvy.

1) Aromatherapy
On restless nights, my first port of call is massaging this sleep balm into my temples, palms and just under my nose. The wonderful blend of lavender and bergamot is incredibly soothing - as I've also been using it for just shy of a year, it also triggers something within me letting my body know it's time to snooze!

A lavender pillow mist is your best friend - trust me on this! A cracking eye cream - particularly one you keep in the fridge, like this Garnier one - always goes down a treat in switching your mind to night mode!

2) Pop the kettle on!
It wouldn't be right for a Brit to not mention having a brew! Seriously these two in particular ooze sleepy vibes - there's something so cosy and soporific about a mug of tea! If you're a herbal tea novice, the idea is to reach for anything chamomile based.

3) Rub a dub dub!
Sometimes a bubble bath is the answer and is the ultimate way to unwind after a long day - bonus points for a glass of red and Norah Jones' greatest hits cd on in the background!

4) Meditate
Sorry to be hippy-dippy, but I'm a firm believer in this old zen adage:
"You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day - unless you're too busy; then you should sit for an hour." Try to mentally shift your to-do list to tomorrow and make peace that the day is over.

5) Light a candle
If your problem is that your mind is cluttered, light a candle and focus on the flame. When you are concentrating on its flickering wick, your problems will flit away one by one.

6) Drown out the world
When all else fails, reach for your eye mask, earplugs or earphones. Some of my friends rave about how audio books help them drift off - I'd recommend Stephen Fry reading the Philosopher's Stone. Try not to listen to it on your phone as you may be constantly distracted by your social media platforms and inbox buzzing - dig out your ancient ipod!

Brew Break #23 Each day is Valentine's Day

Hello Petals!

I thought I'd share with you two of my current favourite lipsticks as they're from a brand I'd never think to explore - collection at superdrug! Don't be put off by their cheap £2.99 price tag, these hidden gems are far from tacky! They're well pigmented and leave a delightful shine - they're my new go-to!

I've been reaching for these two particular shades recently. Valentine is a classic red, and sugar plum a gorgeous mauve! (I also love how I can't help but hum Tchaikovsky when applying the latter!)

Valentine / Sugar plum

I'll love you and leave you with this spine chilling video for Paul McCartney's my valentine...

Soap and Glory Lovin ~

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that I'm a sucker for marketing - and soap & glory always knocks it out of the park! I dipped into Boots a while ago and fell under their 3 for 2 spell! I picked up their solar powder, supercat (for the millionth time) and a sexymother pucker!

I initially was scouting for their brow archery in hot choc - which is renowned for being a dupe for Anastasia's brow wiz - but was unsuccessful. I didn't leave empty handed though, oh no! As my Nar's Laguna bronzer is on its last legs, I picked up this solar powder as I've heard Lily Pebbles rave about it one too many times! Trust me - it's worth the hype!!

I also picked up yet another supercat liner - a product I've been using for almost three years and have converted all my friends too! I just love how fine the pen like tip is and its precision - it's also ideal for days when I'm feeling dotty! . . . .

Top Tip: *Monica Geller voice* To ensure it doesn't dry out, make sure that each time you close the pen you hear it click!

Finally I opted for one of the brands lipsticks, naturally! I couldn't resist the adorable name pom pom and plum-raspberry shade - I was also pleasantly surprised by the buttercream scent... mm mm mmm!

What's your favourite Soap & Glory product(s)?

Brew Break #22 Calling all eyeshadow lazybones!

As much as I love experimenting with eyeshadows, I'm the first to admit that I can be a lazy bugger. On days where I want to add a lil pizzaz to my makeup, but am in a rush, cream eyeshadows are my saviour. One of my all time favourites has to be Maybelline's 24hour range - in particular the shade pink gold! It's the most divine rose gold, iridescent shade and I always receive so many compliments from my friends when I use it - not to mention it takes seconds to apply. This range also has a wicked selection of colours and doesn't budge ~ it's ideal for a night out! I've also recently discovered that this is a really fab eyeshadow primer for my nude/pink powder eyeshadows!

At the mo at Boots these gems are buy one get the second 1/2 price - that's a grand total saving of £2, hey you can buy a top hat from tiger for that! ;-)
