You shut up, or I'll give you a tail

Hi pumpkins! As the 31st is just around the corner, I thought I'd share a few costume ideas...

To kick things off, let's get the painfully cliché option out the way: Mia Wallace! This badass lady is iconic for a reason ~ here's an ace tutorial on how not to be a square.

A good tip if you're on a budget is to invest in a black wig, as every October you can dig it out and with a little makeup magic BAM you're a new character. A fellow raven haired classic is Cleopatra. Channel your inner Elizabeth Taylor, pop on a forest green dress, a smudge of blue eyeshadow and you're good to go.

Instead of splurging on a one time costume, why not jujj up an outfit you already own and dress up as the magnificent Frida Kahlo? Have a heavy hand when doing your brows, repurpose your festival flower headbands and Phoebe-fy your ring game. Take notes from Queen B...

Speaking of Frida, although you may be familiar with her spectacular paintings, I implore you to dip your toes into the love letters between herself and flame Diego. Your heart will do somersaults, I promise!

I have the taste of almonds from your lips in my mouth. Our worlds have never gone outside. Only one mountain can know the core of another mountain.

She who wears the colour.
He who sees the colour.
Since the year 1922.

If you're feeling particularly daring - and have a few extra bob up your sleeve - why not go all out as Leelo? Props to whoever makes their own multipass ~ here's a template to give you a head start!

From one extreme to another: if you're on the breadline: grab the fern from your lounge, buy a pair of groovy Lennon sunglasses off Ebay for two squidarunnies and et voilà... you're Mathilda!

Words simply don't do justice when it comes to describing my love for Baz Luhrmann's 1996 masterpiece. If you're digging the star crossed lovers vibe, why not dress as Capulet and Montague with your BFF?

I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace to them, if they bear it.

You have 3 weeks to keep your eyes peeled for a killer Hawaiian shirt in your local Vinnies!

One final cheap and cheerful costume idea is the delightful Holly Golightly. I'm sure you're all aware of my adoration for this cool cat already. With a simple oversized shirt and a couple of aqua accessories, you could be moon rivering your way through Halloween.

If you had to go to a fancy dress party as something beginning with your initial, what would you go as?
