Bibbidi-Bobbidi Bits & Bobs #15

RiRi x Dior campaign for her début sunglasses range has had me drooooooling! 


It's been just over a month since our dearly beloved left us and I'm still jamming to his albums all day 'ery day. Here is an interview from 1998 with the one and only scary spice (the BEST spice... jus sayin!). To any eagle eyed viewers, check out the cosmic crescent moon ear cuff Prince is sporting during the interview ~ ions ahead of his time! There's been a few articles I've read recently that have tickled me and this one in particular I adore. Six people from different walks of life are interviewed who have one thing in common: punk. They each share their reflections on their former wild days and how their life has vastly changed. It was such a joy to read and I love the concept that punk is a mindset.

As I've finished my final year at uni I've been thinking about my next few steps and all signs point to travelling. It's articles like this - titled 'I ran a Scottish bookshop and you can too' - that give me wanderlust. Props to the writer, Dan, who had me giggling and getting strange looks on the DLR!

It's also pretty hysterical that the owner once shot a kindle which he believed "improved" it and has since had framed in the bookshop. I've bookmarked the article and am hoping to make a wee trip up to Scotland once they have some spare days (their bookings are currently jam packed till 2018) ~ fingers crossed I'll bump into Nanette!

How groovy is this solar system bike ride in Santa Barbara?! The scale model of the solar system is such a wonderful way for folks to visualise how vast it really is....

I saw this fascinating YT video recently which explores what makes a story relatable, focusing on Pixar. If anyone (like me) is curious on what the rest of the rules are, you can find them here.


There was so many showstoppers at this year's Met Gala but I had to share my favourite. I LOVED the futuristic theme and think that Gigi & Zayn nailed it.


Gigi's knuckle duster rings and glitter silver parting were mesmerising. Don't even get me started on Zayn's armour ~ reminded me of a modern day Romeo Montague...


Honorary mention to Katy Perry's black lipstick and blue mascara combo. I wish I could get my paws  (I'm so punny) on her new Covergirl Katy Kat matte lipstick in the shade perry panther!

It wouldn't be a #BBB&B without a ridiculously optimistic wishlist ~ there's some right corkers today!

Kalo Mina #1 THE LESSON

'Kalo Mina' is a greeting many say on the first of every month in Greece ~ it's essentially blessing your friends and family to a healthy/happy month. I thought I'd kick start a new series in which I'll share a poem on the first of every month that I cherish and that'll set the tone for the coming weeks. 


Maya Angelou was a magnanimous poet that I've worshipped for a long time and who has helped me through many rough seas. She once said that although she only gave birth to one son, she has thousands of daughters. "I have daughters who are black and white, Asian and Spanish-speaking, and native American," she said. "I have daughters who are fat and thin, pretty and plain, gay and straight. I have all sorts of daughters who I just claim. And they claim me." What a glorious sentiment.

There are two quotes of hers in particular that I cling to. Growing up with divorced parents, dual nationality and a chaotic childhood (to say the least), her quote about home always gave me great comfort: "you can never go home again, but the truth is you can never leave home, so it's all right". Another quote of hers has also underpinned my philosophy on friendship and strangers: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".

I picked up a book of her poetry in a charity shop in Greenwich during my first year of uni and each poem silenced me. There is a wealth of wisdom that her work is soaked in. Here is the poem I'd like to share this month ~ let it wash over you:


Although there are countless poems in this book that echo through me, there is something about this particular one that lingers and soothes. It encourages me to keep on rolling the dice.


In many ways it also reminds me of one of my favourite lyrics taken from Talking Heads' Slippery People
"Fall on your face, you must be having fun".

I have a feeling they'll be many more of Maya's poems featured on my blog in the coming months...
